Who are we talking about when we refer to Millennials? Who are they? How they use social networks  Read this article to know more about it!

Who are the Millennials?

Millennials were born between the 1980s and 2000s and grew up with the emergence of the internet and the telephone.

Travel is at the heart of their lives and is a real experience for this generation. And for good reason, 4.3 is the number of trips made each year by Millennials compared to 3.1 for Baby Boomers!

Millennials are making their travel experiences real. Indeed, they are more interested in the authenticity of their travel experiences than in collecting memories. The experience has to be authentic and by that, they mean living like ‘locals’ when they travel.

They grew up watching YouTube videos and reading blogs to learn about different countries, cultures, surroundings, etc. This is the result of a general trend towards technology and digital technology that allows them to create social circles without even leaving their homes. They do not usually take advice from an expert or a travel agency but rather from their relatives and social networks. This is the challenge for tourism professionals to be present and active on social networks!

Social networks, are a source of inspiration for their future trips

Social networks play an important role in the lives of Millennials and therefore in their daily inspirations.

Travel is no exception, as Millennials want to experience travel, but the most important thing is to share it… on social networks. Many studies show that it is more important for them than for non-Millennials to share their travels on social networks.

Instagram is the preferred network for this generation to find inspiration for their next trip or the most “Instagrammable” spot to go to during their trip. Validation and integration are needs at the heart of this generation, where liking and sharing are more than rewarding.

So don’t forget this new target that is revolutionizing the world of travel on social networks!
